Why do fools fall in love ?

I don't know - but I was looking for the recipe of pasta vongole the other day. Me and Lene were having a weekend without kids and this simple but very tasteful Italian dish was the target of the evenings romantic meal. Maybe I was a fool to look for the recipe at all, because it is pretty simple; Pasta, olive oil, red pepper, garlic, onion, parsley and of course the vongole. The small shells that are sometimes hard to find in Norway, so you might end up with mussels, which is not a very bad substitute.

Anyway - I used my mobile of course, and went for a dive into the Mobiletech mosh pit of mobilesites. First matprat.no. It had some un-orthodox variants including tomatoes that made me doubt their credibility on this kind of material. So i did a new dive into to tasteline.com. This tastefully, well designed mobile site is really appealing and live up to its name.

But then a white banner catches my eye - actually at the prime spot I was expecting to find the search box where I should enter the term "vongole". This banner tells me that I'm a fool because I have only found the second best alternative. It tels me to do download the App instead.

I thought that being able to type in an URL in the browser would give me some cred - (stupid ass). But the fact is that I should have gone straight to the App store. tasteline.com was just a junction that can be jumped next time.

So why invest in this nice mobile site ?
The complete site could have actually be replaced by a single banner:

"Ladda ner vår app"

I did not click on the banner - didn't feel like it , and managed to find both the search box and the vongole recipe on the mobile site. However as I was writing this, I had to check the app.

Is it much cooler ? What did I miss ?

Luckily the link gave me an error !!

iTunes store - the great store of software candy could not find the tasteline app.
I'm happy and relieved. - It means that I went to the right place first after all.

Only fools would go to the appstore and search for tasteline.
